- The P.O.D. (Point of Distribution) for our neighborhood seems to be winding down and about ready to pack up.
- Looks like Ike is taking a turn for Mexico...I'm really sorry about that guys.
- Shelly just called to let me know that Entergy is up the road from our house (approximately 2-3 miles away) putting up new POWER POLES!!!!!!!
- Shelly went and bought a new ice chest so that we can stop mopping water up off of the floor around the refrigerator from the melting ice that wouldn't' fit in the other ice chest.
- Shelly also went and bought a two burner propane stove (which I actually wanted for my birthday, but is probably more useful now), so now I can cook beans & rice at the same time!
- Dad loaned us a generator yesterday, so we got to cool off the house with the shop fan, after the hottest day so far, by far and at least the mosquitoes were kept at bay. Oh! and we got to watch a really terrible movie (whatever you do, don't rent "The other Boleyn Girl")
This is my low-key, I'm a human trying to figure it and me all out, bloggy-blog. I've got another blog for my spiritual/dance/professional process...this one is about creativity, and the good, bad, and ugly of everyday life. Not necessarily in that order.

You know, in a really strange, probably totally unethical/sick sorta way, I'm a little jealous. Having grown up in Louisiana, like you did, the overall excitement of the hurricanes still make my heart beat faster and have me longing for Kentucky Fried Chicken {that shit lasts for days after the electricity goes out - I swear}. I was a little excited about the "Hanna" one actually making it up the mountains! Oh well, Love is, having friends that write about hurricanes, so I can get my fix. Seriously, I'm glad you and everybody you know faired well. Thanks for keeping me posted.
Yeah- well I'm with you on that count...I know - and it does sound "strange, probably totally unethical and kinda sick" but it's the truth. When you grow up down here you kind of look forward to it like a right of passage...maybe even like a merit badge or something. I dunno - there is something to being from down here and having to ride one out - and don't you know - I feel totally bad for all those people who live here (have lived here for quite a while) and have never 'Ridden one out'? Ya know?
