The Scawy Wo-old of "Art Journaling"

Who Knew? I have said this so many times since January 1, 2010.  I mean, I really cannot believe how many times I have sincerely, thoughtfully, validly used this phrase.  Who knew?  Like, the "Who Knew 2010 World Tour" or something.

Right on that list, Shamsi joins Satellite Writing Class, Shamsi begins teaching Reiki, Shamsi finds new space and announces a Guided Meditation session ;), Shamsi joins Art Journal Love Letters (this time with the intent to actually COMPLETE at least one journal page ;)

See that link up there?  the one that says "Art Journal Love Letters"?  Yup, go check it, then come back.  Or not, but it is an awesomely-brilliant site for inspiration and general art-mukity-groovieness.

So, here it is.  Exactly one week after my Rockin' Full Moon Walkin' on Hot Coals Birthday, I sat down with all of my implements of destruction and began.... badly :) but that's okay, cause I knew I would have to mess up a bunch before I found *my* style and that thing that needs to get out of me to make me happy.  But I totally finished the texture bases for two pages and gel-mediumed (yes it is now a verb in my vocabulary people) one more page :)...so, um, HA!  But I have realized in waiting for Gel medium to dry that I am about to go purchase a hairdryer for the first time in over 20 years.... srsly.

Stuff used:
Gel Medium <---Cause Connie said so.  Plus it turns out the stuff is wicked-fun.
Acrylic paints
Groovy multi-sized, round sponges on sticks (who knew!?)
Stencils
Saved mesh-y ribbon
Saved mini-bubbles bubble wrap

Est voila! here we go.  This video is HORRIBLE :) so if you watch, I know you are: bored, have nothing better to do with 5 minutes or you must simply be one heck of a friend.  oh yeah... and all of the guitar, bass & drum noises coming from the background are my Significant Other's (Shelly) band practice... all rights, yada yada don't matter because you can't make out what's going on anyway ;)

PS - if you watch all the way to the end, you get to see the paint-medium-creative-genius of my Sig-O... a rare treat indeed ;)

Your "significant other" cracked me up when he says "you're not doing it at all like Bob Ross!!!!!!!!!"

That is a hilarious!

On another note, Charlie--I love you!

I love that you find the big things of your life this year as teach writing class, learning reiki, opening a center, teaching meditation...and AJLL!!! You are so silly and blissfully great at the same time!!

And wow, I don't understand you women that don't own a hairdryer!! I'm learning through AJLL that there are quite a few of you....I just figured that everyone needed one--or the world would be full of mushroom heads like me!!!

I'm so happy to share in your creative juiciness!! Keep it coming!

Big hugs,
Connie

Ok...I just read my comment....and, I know you didn't teach writing class--I think I just got a little over zealous for you!

I loved your video! And I actually really like all your colors and textures. I also like your SO's circles, but I have a thing for circles. :)

I keep seeing people doing AJLL. I know waiting for October is going to be a better time for me to do it, but darn it, it looks like so much fun! Can't wait to see what else you create.
